Next week, UQ and Universitas Indonesia (UI) will jointly host a new webinar as part of the UQ-UI Bilateral Research Forum. This webinar is entitled Sustainable Urbanisation and Sustainable Development Goals in Indonesian Cities. Our overall aim is to foster conversations between UQ and UI researchers working on sustainable cities in Indonesia.
The webinar will start with presentations from Dr Monoarfa, the Minister for National Development and Planning (Bappenas) and Dr Susantono, the Vice-President from the Asian Development Bank. After the presentations, participants will be asked to join a breakout room to further discuss research initiatives between SDG11 and other SDGs. The facilitators will be Dr Sonia Roitman (UQ), Dr Rusli Cahyadi (LIPI-UI, UQ Alumni), Mr Fino Valico (UQ) and Dr Ahmad Gamal (UI).

Background
Dr Sonia Roitman, UQ School of Earth and Environment Science and Dr Ali Berawi, UI Faculty of Engineering, will lead the forum. The theme of ‘Sustainable Urbanisation’ is closely linked to the four dimensions of Sustainable Development Goal 11 (SDG 11): sustainable, resilient, safe and inclusive cities. The sustainable urbanisation theme is also associated with:
- Clean water and sanitation (SDG 6);
- Industry, innovation and infrastructure (SDG 9);
- Inequalities (SDG 10); and
- Partnerships (SDG 17).
