Congratulations Dr Rusli Cahyadi

The UQ Doctor of Philosophy Degree has been conferred to Mr Rusli Cahyadi. Congratulations Rusli!

The PhD thesis is titled: ‘Social Justice and Planning Policy: The provision of sewerage infrastructure in Jakarta, Indonesia’. The thesis analyses the contribution of urban planning to reproducing social injustice in Jakarta, using a sanitation project as case study. It examines social justice based not just on a redistributive dimension but also according to an institutional dimension. Using the indicators of need, inclusion and enablement  for the analysis of social justice, the thesis contributes empirical evidence on the failure of planning to create more just cities.

Rusli is back in Jakarta, in his role of researcher at LIPI (Indonesian Institute of Sciences) working on the impact of COVID-19 in Jakarta. The PhD studies received funding from the Indonesian government. PhD supervisors: Dr Sonia Roitman and Assoc. Prof. Ann Peterson.
