New Colombo Plan Scholarship: Applications open!

Applications are now open for the New Colombo Plan (NCP) Scholarship, a prestigious program that funds high achieving undergraduate students to undertake study, language training and internships in 40 countries across the Indo-Pacific region.

The New Colombo Plan is a signature initiative of the Australian Government that aims to lift knowledge of the Indo-Pacific in Australia and strengthen people-to-people and institutional relationships.

120 scholarships will be granted nationwide, each one offering students a travel and establishment allowance, monthly stipend, insurance and case management. Scholars must undertake one or two semesters of study, for which they will receive credit into their UQ degree or concurrent diploma. The scholarship also includes support for language studies and assistance in obtaining an internship.

UQ will nominate 10 students to apply for the scholarship. To be eligible for nomination you must be:

  • A high achieving student
  • An Australian citizen. Applicants can not undertake their Scholarship in a country where they have dual citizenship or residency rights; or in which they have previously been a citizen or permanent resident
  • Between aged 18 and 28 (inclusive) on 1 January 2019
  • Enrolled as an undergraduate student in at least your second year of study at the commencement of the scholarship program

Successful applicants must commence their scholarship between 1 January and 15 December 2019.  Students who have received NCP Mobility Grant funding are eligible to apply.
