Sonia Roitman was invited to give a guest lecture to the students from the Bachelor of Town and Regional Planning at the University of Pretoria in South Africa. The lecture was on the impacts of floods for the local communities in three countries of the Global South: Samoa, Uganda and Indonesia.
The objective of the lecture was to discuss the role of urban planning in addressing environmental problems linked to climate change in several cities of the Global South. For South African students, it was a good exercise to understand the similarities and differences with their own country and their own cities.
