Future Earth Australia is holding the South East Queensland workshop for Urban Systems Transformation: Sustainable Cities.
Future Earth Australia, hosted by the Australian Academy of Science, is leading a process to write a national strategy for Australian sustainable cities. The process involves interactive workshops around Australia, with researchers, practitioners, industry, and government participating in these workshops to inform this national strategy. We would greatly value your insights and participation on the day. The strategy is overseen by a reference group. UQ|UP’s Neil Sipe is part of this reference group.
Urban Systems Transformation: Sustainable Cities
A solid foundation of urban sustainability information is essential for building the cities of tomorrow. The best way to produce and use this knowledge base, and achieve real and lasting change, is through a collaboative approach. Future Earth Australia is working with partners to review current urban sustainability knowledge and identify knowledge gaps that need to be filled.
This is a chance to network with policy makers, practitioners, researchers, business and community to help design a national strategy.
The workshop will focus on key strategic questions for SEQ including:
- What do we need to know to achieve a sustainable South East Queensland?
- How can we develop this knowledge?
- What are the barriers and opportunities to developing this knowledge?
- What are our strategic actions moving forward?
This interactive and enlightening workshop will be hosted by Griffith University on:
Date: Wednesday, 28 November
Time: 9.00am – 4.30pm
Location: The Ship Inn, Cnr Stanley & Sidon Streets, Southbank Parklands, Brisbane
