UQ|UP students win PIA Qld Awards for Excellence

Last week the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA), Queensland branch, celebrated the 35th PIA Queensland Awards for Planning Excellence. UQ|UP staff and students attended the event to celebrate the achievements of the year.

We were really excited and proud to see UQ|UP students received two awards. Congratulations!

For Planning Research, Rachel Gallagher (PhD student) received an award for her project: Protect the Brisbane Backyard!  (Except from subdivision for additional house construction)

Emma Gurney (BRTP student) received the Minister’s Planning Award 2021  for best set topic on ‘conversations about growth and change’. The title of her project was: How can planners have more effective conversations with communities about growth and change?

Well done, Rachel and Emma! It is wonderful to have such talented students in our team.
