UQ|UP staff rake up SEES & Faculty Teaching & Learning awards in 2020

Congratulations everyone! Very proud to have such a dedicated urban planning team at UQ who delivered teaching excellence during a most unusual and difficult year.

Faculty of Science Award for Excellence in Teaching & Learning – Recognises and rewards individuals and small teams who make a significant contribution to the outstanding Teaching & Learning achievements in the Faculty.

SEES Teaching Excellence Award – Awarded to the staff members who have strived for excellence, seeking to apply the highest standards in their teaching to benefit our students.

  • Dr Laurel Johnson

“Laurel Johnson is a kind, supportive and an innovative thinker. She always goes the extra mile to support and help her students in their work, and always aims to make assessment relevant and engaging with the aim of shaping us to be the best in our field.”

SEES Most Impassioned Teacher Award – Awarded to the staff members who engages with, and inspires student learning in their courses

SEES Best Demonstrator – Awarded to recognise the achievements of the course demonstrators:

  • Mr Mubeen Ahmad

“Mubeen has been so helpful and approachable. This semester was nothing short of challenging but am glad to be in the course that Mubeen was tutoring”

The selection of winners for each category was based on votes from the staff and students of SEES. There were five different categories in which to cast a vote:

  • Teaching Excellence Award 2020
  • Creativity and Innovation in Teaching Award
  • Most Impassioned Teacher Award
  • Most Supportive Teacher Award
  • Best Demonstrator Award 2020
