A team of internationally esteemed urban transport experts will deliver a free Public Lecture next Friday to make the case for cycling in solving South East Queensland’s worsening congestion chaos.
Canadian mobility gurus, Modacity, will visit Brisbane over three days, on a whirlwind speaking tour comprising industry seminars and a public lecture.

The sustainable transport speaking tour is being sponsored by Brisbane City Council and hosted by Bicycle Queensland, to coincide with Modacity’s keynote appearance at the Australian Walking and Biking Conference and Bike Tourism Conference in Bendigo recently.
Bicycle Queensland CEO, Anne Savage, says the visit will provide a fresh perspective on opportunities to create a safe, seamless, and synchronised urban transport network to better connect busy urban centres.
“This is a rare opportunity for Queensland policy makers and decision makers to hear directly from world experts who have helped to transform transport networks in some of the world’s busiest and best-loved cities,” she said.
“Importantly, they will provide insight and ideas that can help us to kick-start a healthy and sustainable travel future, where all Queenslanders can go from A to B safely, quickly, conveniently, and affordably.
“The three-day visit will include opportunities to walk and ride around Brisbane and surrounds, culminating in a free Public Lecture on Friday 9 November.”
Modacity co-founders, Chris and Melissa Bruntlett, say the visit will be an opportunity to share knowledge and build global capacity towards more sustainable transport development.
“Our goal is to promote a more human image of multi-modal transportation – we strive to educate cities and their citizens about the benefits of moving away from a car-centric transportation model, towards a more inclusive model that is accessible to people of all ages, abilities, and economic means.
“People marvel at The Netherland’s impressive cycling culture and infrastructure, but an insidious ‘that would never work here’ attitude prevents real change from happening.”
