Seminar on biofuels

It is our pleasure to announce that this Friday 19 October at 1pm, in room N202 of the Hawken building (50), Mike Cochran will be giving a seminar on “Biofuels and Australian Biofuel Development”.

The seminar will touch on several topics of interest to a broad audience:

MCMike Cochran is the CEO of Ecco Consulting Pty Ltd (www.eccoaustralia.com), which was established in 2004 to provide consulting services in marketing, strategy, research, economics and operations to the oil, gas, petroleum, alternative fuel and resource sectors. Specialty fields include crude oil, condensates, LPG’s, petroleum products, alternative fuels, infrastructure and government policy. Biofuels is one specialty developed by Ecco Consulting jointly with EnergyQuest, trading as APAC Biofuel Consultants. APAC has become a leading biofuel consultancy in Australia. Besides consulting to the biofuel industry, APAC prepares the annual ‘AUSTRALIAN BIOFUELS’ report on the Australian biofuel sector. Clients include governments, government agencies, investors, investment banks, trading houses and industry associations. Mike is also a Senior Associate with EnergyQuest Pty Ltd (www.energyquest.com.au). Prior to establishing Ecco Consulting, Mike spent twenty two years with Santos Ltd in Adelaide, in various senior commercial roles including responsibility for the marketing of crude oil and natural gas liquids from the Cooper Basin and other Santos’ equity production fields, project development such as splitting condensate/naphtha for the Asian petrochemical and town gas markets and production of inland diesel fuel. Prior to Santos, Mike spent seven years with CRA (Rio Tinto) as project/financial analyst with CRA Consultants, marketing uranium with Mary Kathleen Uranium and Marketing Superintendent with Bougainville Copper on Bougainville Island, PNG. He commenced his career with a cadetship in steel marketing with BHP. Mike graduated in Economics from Sydney University and also holds a Diploma of Oil Supply and Refining (University of Oxford). He was President of the (national) Australian Institute of Energy (AIE) in 2014 and 2015, National Board member from 2008 to 2017, committee member of AIP/AIE South Australia 1993 to 2017 including as State Chairman 1996 to 1998. Mike has presented at many national and international forums and symposiums on condensate, naphtha, LPG and is a presenter on biofuels and alternative transport fuels.
