The Second International Conference on African Urban Planning took place in Lisbon last week (7-8 September 2017, University of Lisbon). The conference discussed four main themes:
- History of urban planning in Africa
- Current debate on planning in Africa
- Localising SDG11 and the New Urban Agenda
- Social and economic challenges and changes in African cities
Sonia Roitman, from UQ Planning, presented on her current research in Kampala, Uganda: ‘What do SDG11 and the NUA mean for the urban planning governance structure in Kampala, Uganda?’.
